There are a number of Stanford Departments you should contact when planning the actual construction of your project.

University Resources:

University Architect / Campus Planning & Design (UA/CPD)
  • Identifies construction laydown space
  • Can inform you about fencing and signage requirements for the site
Stanford Transportation - Parking and Transportation Services
  • Works with you to mitigate impacts to campus parking, circulation, and pedestrian zones through the Construction Logistics Plan
  • Helps arrange contractor parking
Department of Public Safety
  • Can provide traffic control and parking enforcement for your project
  • Can provide staffing to monitor your site for security
Diversity and Access Office
  • Ensures project meets all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and other local laws
  • Ensures continued access for the disabled during construction (ADA entrances, adequate parking spaces, etc...)
  • Provides oversight for the All-Gender Restroom Conversion Program, including standards and guidance for adding or converting existing space
Office of Government and Community Relations
  • Works to maintain cordial relations with neighbors impacted by construction projects
  • Helps to communicate impacts (traffic, parking, noise, dust) in advance to those affected

Construction Logistics tips:

  • Everyone needs a permit to park on campus
  • Stanford discourages parking in residential neighborhoods and on landscaped areas
  • If your project will impact public artwork, be sure to contact the Cantor Arts Center before any construction begins
  • Always notify neighbors in advance of any work. This goes a long way in understanding and helps Stanford maintain good relationships
