Facilities Operations is responsible for maintaining the academic buildings and grounds of the Stanford campus.

Capital Planning & Space Management

Capital Planning & Space Management leads the University’s annual Capital Planning Process. We also plan for evolving space needs and support the allocation of space on campus in support of responsible growth and development.

Finance & Administration provides the foundation for all Land, Buildings and Real Estate operations. We are the liaison with other university financial departments, Human Resources, the Cabinet and Board of Trustees.

Land Use & Environmental Planning

Land Use & Environmental Planning (LUEP) provides land use planning, environmental permitting, and spatial analysis services to university partners with a focus on long-term planning and land stewardship. LUEP directly oversees Stanford’s stewardship activities for biological and cultural resources located on Stanford lands.

Maps & Records

Maps & Records creates and maintains a central resource of historic, current and future land, buildings, real estate and infrastructure information for Stanford University. We also coordinate the continuous improvement of facilities information resources and standards.

Project Management

Project Management (DPM) manages all stages of capital projects for the university. We plan and develop facilities and landscapes that enhance the university as a whole and embrace our partnership with the community and reinforce our stewardship of Stanford lands.

Project Management Resources

PMR supports schools and departments that manage their own facilities and infrastructure projects (Departmentally Managed Projects or DMPs) by providing resources and training on University policies and procedures. We are also the University liaison and point of contact for our primary permitting jurisdiction Santa Clara County.

The Real Estate Department is led by the Associate Vice President and includes over thirty professionals in the areas of Asset Management, Real Estate Development, Gift Real Estate, Residential Housing Planning and Acquisitions, and Real Estate Finance & Lease Administration.

The department of Sustainability, Utilities & Infrastructure (SUI) leads the initiative to advance sustainability in campus operations and oversees campus utilities and transportation services.

The University Architect / Campus Planning & Design office leads an integrated approach to strategic planning and design excellence in creating a model campus consistent with Stanford's status as one of the leading academic/research institutions in the world.

Stanford Transportation

Stanford Transportation manages Stanford’s award-winning Transportation Demand Management program, which includes Stanford’s Commute Club, free Marguerite shuttle, transit and car-free options, bicycle program, and parking operations.
