Project Management

The DMP Policy (PDF)   provides a basis for a consistent standard of management and delivery of facilities projects and studies that are not managed by Land, Buildings, and Real Estate, or LBRE. All DMP requests by Stanford University academic departments and administrative units are required to be submitted electronically on a Form 1   prior to the project commencing. The scope and complexity of DMP requests will be reviewed by LBRE to determine if the proposed project presents significant risk to the University. Projects that present such risk may be deemed inappropriate for DMP release.

The Department Representative on a DMP is responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery, including:

  • Obtaining all regulatory approvals and permits associated with the project
  • Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Accordance with all applicable campus policies and procedures
  • Coordination with the University Fire Marshal, District/Zone Management, Maps & Records, Environmental Health and Safety, Contracts and Procurement, and other university departments

LBRE sponsors mandatory training for individuals who authorize DMPs as well as departmental staff who are responsible for projects. Agreement to the terms of the DMP Policy and completion of the training is required before a project may commence.
