The Architectural Trades are an integral part of maintaining and improving the structures on campus. These shops provide a range of services to academic, research, library and special University facilities which include the following:

- Remodel Design Services
- Repairs & Alterations to Existing Structures
All skilled craftspeople, many with decades of experience on campus, these technicians are a vital resource for anyone planning a remodeling project in their building.
Architectural Trades
Carpentry Shop
Need cabinets? Just moved into a new area and the space needs some modifications? From leaky roofs to lunchroom remodels, our journeyman carpenters and cabinetmakers are available for all of your building needs.
Services provided:
- New installations: cabinets, cubicle systems, flooring, etc.
- Maintenance and repair to all campus structures
- Custom woodworking
- Cabinetry
- Rough and finish carpentry
- Design for office furniture systems
- Tennant improvement work
- Permit required work
Glass Shop
Frosted, safety or double paned, we have your window. Our glaziers are standing by to assist you with repairing your broken windows, or selecting the appropriate type of glass for a new application. But that’s not all! We have expanded our services to include other surfaces as well.
Services provided:
- New installations: windows, glass doors, etc.
- Maintenance and repair to all glass structures
- Energy efficient glass
- Custom glass enclosures
- Solid surface restroom partitions (resists graffiti!)
- Privacy/sun shade screens
- Storefront systems
- Dining spec work: sneeze guards, etc.
- Coordination of quality outside contract work
Lock Shop
Feeling a little shut out? Sometimes all life’s doors need is a new key. From replacement cabinet keys to card key access, our lock technicians have a wealth of experience in the field and are ready to assist you with all of your key issues.
Services provided:
- New installations: various types of door knobs, locks (doors, file cabinets, desks, etc.)
- Duplicate keys
- Replacement keys
- ADA compliant door hardware
- Electronic lock systems
- Building rekeys
- Master key system: program to assist - key trees, etc.
Paint Shop
Feeling like your office color could use an update? Worn all of the varnish off the arms of your favorite chair? Look no further… our Paint Shop can provide an unlimited variety of possibilities for custom paint or stains, along with a long list of other services.
Services provided:
- Custom paint or stain matching
- Spray texture
- Any style of application: spray lacquer/varnish, brush, roll
- Drywall taping, topping and finishing
- Powder coating services available
- Furniture refinishing
- Restoration
- Power washing
- Street striping
- Portable sand blasting
- 2 component epoxies
- Coordination of quality outside contract work
Sign Shop
Need a new nameplate for your door? Holding a conference and need to advertise? Whether you need to tell people where to go, or are replacing a sign that was damaged or vandalized, we have you covered. Our Sign Shop can create custom signs for a variety of needs or duplicate ANY existing sign, regardless of the material used in the original.
Services provided:
- Custom signs: office, street, special event, etc.
- Name plates
- Custom white boards: striping, labels, etc.
- Decals for vehicles; permanent and magnetic
