Regulatory Compliance and Permitting

Stanford’s projects must comply with local, state and national regulations that evaluate and protect heritage resources. Heritage Services works in partnership with the Land Use and Environmental Planning Department to assist Land, Buildings and Real Estate projects at the entitlement and permitting stage.

The first step in this process is determining the jurisdiction within which the project is located. Nearly all of Stanford’s academic facilities are located in unincorporated Santa Clara County, however there are also facilities in other jurisdictions.

The local permitting jurisdictions have similar review processes for evaluating projects that may affect heritage resources.
